The 23rd Psalm is one of the most beautiful passages in the Bible. It is written by David, who himself was a shepherd, but from the viewpoint of the sheep

The word Sheep refers to any animal that grazes or someone easily led, one way or the other. Characteristics of sheep include dumb and easily go astray (Isaiah 53:6, 1 Peter 2:25, Luke 15:4); defenseless (Ezekiel 34:6) and clumsy (Psalm 116: 8). Sadly, we are sheep from a biblical point of view.

A Shepherd is a herder of sheep; someone who keeps the sheep together in a flock. They can also be a clergyman. Jesus is our Shepherd (Psalm 80:1, Ezekiel 34:23, Zechariah 13:7, Isaiah 40:11, 1 Peter 2:25, 1 Peter 5:4) Looking closely at John 10 Jesus establishes and maintains boundaries. He speaks to His sheep and leads them serving as a role model. He is trustworthy. Jesus says the only way. He promises abundant life. He provides good pasture.
